Jury Duty, Concert on the Square, Italian meal, and lots of photos

I called Eden to see about going to Aunt Katherine's funeral...but learned at 7:30 I had been called to jury duty..so I was there in a hour thanks to an Ethopian cab driver.

I started telling him about the places on Ponce de Leon I had lived...asked if his home stood where there had been homes for centuries..and ended with his life history....he lived in the country, his family still does..no electricity, running water (get it from the river), or telepohone. He tended the cows (they grew cotton and had goats) until at 9 he went to school. The Communist government was the end of that...and he has been in the US nine year and is married with a child.

Lady next to me in the jury room was called first time out.....she has a daughter interning at GA Baptist (AMC) right now and stays with her 3 grandchildren in Ellenwood...had had 6 of her own.

Man behind me with a cell phone..phrases like "we're ready to charge forward", "Randypt expectations not being managed", "extending our level of urgency" and ""some deliberate plan ..disuss and agreed on"..sounds like "managementspeak" to me...

Other woman near me...a waitress who is not getting paid for the day.

I sat out the 4 hours...reading, marking and cutting out an excellent explanation of Knowledge Management...watched the video about the jury system, and listed to the judges telling us what good citizens were are....

The Decatur square itself was amazing to me...so very many flower, so beautiful...

I took in "DecaturSWcapes" by Ruth Franklin at the Shawn Visnson Gallery...looked in a couple of shops and had a great lunch..and took a lot of pictures.

I spent most of the day at Mercer working on my paper. I did call on of the references for our Califonia candidate...Trudy, Beth..and they say Florence all insisted she had not had supervisory experience...was not a likely candidate.... Judith told us about the interview with GA Baptist College librarians...proved Sheryl's rule...first thing pepole ask is "what about MY job"....and of course they could not say.

I suggested to Judith that she might consider the librarian for the post....Lynette...and she said that she had thought about it...however, she really, really wants someone in place so she can start the Executive MBA program in September.....

Started considering sending "bulk" emails to my people....

Interesting cab ride home with one of the older drivers..

Had a long midnight to 2 talk with Eden...religion came up...she said at A.K's funeral she found that she missed the Episcopal Church.....and we talked a lot about it..The Diest concept appeals to her.... Said she would like to go to Cuba with me..said we must really get US visas.
