Motherhood

Motherhood is usually thought of as associted with mothering

babies teenagers even grandchildren..litle grandchildren

It is adult children who are the real challenge. We are mothers to adults much longer than we are to children.

It is interesting...my 5 year old granddaughter, the sister of a militaristic brother (and this is not too strong a word)...will say "I want to be a mommie..and not go to work"...and idea she got all by herself, but that is certainly based on the expericnec of having a mother go off to work copyediting at night several days a week...just as she comes home from school...

Yet she will not be a "mommie" as she envisions it very long....she will be a "mommie" of a different kind....

....

When I went for my six months job swap in NZ my daughter..the youngest said she missed me..it was as if I were "dead"...and yet it seems that she is not really happy with me now...she is not happy witih the way I am living my life.....she objects to my constant photography, my wanting to talk about work (my son-in-law is better for this)...and assciates from work....

So....your take on mothering adult children
