Some views of international librarians at ALA Chicago meeting July 2000

Some are from the exhibits, a papers session, and the final receptio at the Harold Washington downtown main library for Chicago Public Library. The Library is amazing...right now a Buffalo Soldier exhibit is taking place on the lower level and they have just opened a special exhibit on H. Washington himself. He was a driving force behind this new building. My email experience there...30 minutes, no questions asked, off the street between an Englishman and an Irishman....The Special Collections was also hosting an exhibit about the British Library (appropriate because those citizens across the waters gave books to start the Chicago library after the fire). The roof garden was perfect for this reception.
